I was reading my othello book again today. And i really am quite amazed at Iago's manipulation of the people around him. I mean, it is not that amazing in the script, but imagine if he could like do it in real life.
I may sound evil, but isnt it amazing, the wonders of manipulation. So amazing to be able to delve into the human psyche, to be able to pick out certain characteristics in people and to be able to use it, to exploit it in meaner terms.
The Human Psyche. I would wanna read that book if there is one. Its all in the mind. a m a z i n g.
To be able to completely understand it and seal yourself from interpretation. How freakin cool is that. I will own in poker. Lol.
Interpretation is all that matters.
But i guess that's what our identity is. We are who we are determined to be by society isnt it? People can go on and on about being true to yourself, and what people think don't matter. No one is kind because they really are kind. We are taught kindness when we were children from stories that tell us, bad people have bad endings. It becomes engraved into our mentality and mindset, so when we think we really honestly mean well, its just that we have forgot how we even understand and grasp the concept of niceness in the first place, and it is all due to the selfishness of not wanting to have a bad ending.
We wanna fight against public perception, societal judgementality, to try and define ourselves. But what is it when no one recognises your definition of yourself except you. Is that your identity, or is that who you want to be? You want to be individualistic, because you want to APPEAR individualistic isnt it? When we say, "I dont care what people think", is because they want to appear as nonchalent, and that they have an attitude, that they have personality.
And this is where most people struggle. They wanna be cool, unique, to stand out in their own way, by purposely not conforming and forging a certain sense of style that they feel will be individualistic. But then they will never accept the fact they are indeed the thing they try not to associate themselves with. They wanna create their image, is it because they cannot fit into the current "in crowd" ( which is, ironically, defined by yourself as well ) is it because they WANT to BE the "in crowd", or they want to appear as if they don't care, paradoxically, become their own "in crowd"? It HAS to be one of those, because no one is innately individualistic. This is because we grow up where there's more than one of us. So our thoughts have been shaped. Our opinions might have evolved, but the root is from people around us.
So in the end, everyone cares bout how they appear, no matter how nonchalent they appear to be. Individuality is crap. Conformity is individuality, because no one wants to be known as a conformist. So do you conform to appear individualistic, or try to be individualistic, yet inevitably, you are conforming to the non-conformist mentality?
I know I'm neither. I conform cause being individualistic is far too tiring. Just go with the flow. Let your individuality, your identity and your Self be determined by a third party, a greater power which will have the objectivity and neutrality to do so. Not your government, not your friends ( society is a greater power), but by whoever or whatever God you believe in. Bcos you and i know, the only person or thing or divine being that can absolutely truly honest and kind and nice is that particular God you believe in.
Religion, (in my case, its more of a relationship, for i do not recognise Christianity as a Religion) as a source of anchorage, or as a source of definition. Food for thought.
